The District 21 T&C Committee serves Alcoholics Anonymous home groups in Louisiana's District 21 who are currently involved in or want to get involved in T&C service work. The committee provides structure and ensures that alcoholics in treatment centers and correctional facilities are being delivered the AA message in professional, respectful way. Every month, home groups send an elected T&C service rep to attend the T&C Committee meeting, where they report on what is happening with their current commitments, inquire about what T&C commitments are available in the area, and request resources for their commitments such as literature and orientation for new members.

The District 21 T&C Chair updates T&C reps on changes and current events regarding T&C service in New Orleans. T&C reps vote on changes to T&C guidelines, service commitments, and other changes to T&C service structure in the district.

The District 21 T&C Committee is important because it ensures T&C runs smoothly in the district and acts as a resource for both home groups and facilities. The Committee provides structure by centralizing all information on district T&C commitments in one place, including open commitment availability, changes at facilities, T&C guidelines and orientation, and reports on current T&C commitments in the district. In this way, the Committee ensures that alcoholics in treatment and correctional facilities are receiving the AA message and that the message is being carried in a respectful, professional manner.

The T&C Committee meets on the second Monday of every month at 7:30 PM. Meetings take place at Freddy's Ark, 1656 N Tonti Street, New Orleans, LA.

District 21 includes all home groups downriver from Canal Street, including all of New Orleans East and St. Bernard Parish. If your home group falls within this boundary, it is in District 21.

If your home group does not currently have a T&C commitment but is looking for one, getting involved is easy. The home group elects a T&C service representative to attend the monthly T&C Committee meeting and generally oversee the group's commitments. The service rep then attends one of the T&C Committee meetings to see what commitments are available and request one for their home group. The rep then brings this information back to their home group, which votes on whether to take the commitment or not. After voting, the rep informs the District 21 T&C Chair, who will then schedule orientation for the group and provide readings for the commitment. It is then the T&C service rep's responsibility to attend the T&C Committee meeting every month to report on how their commitment is going, get updates on what is happening with T&C in the district, and vote on changes to T&C structure, such as orientation, guidelines, etc.
